Our swishy lampshades went to Decorex!

Our swishy lampshades went to Decorex!

And here are the highlights…

Fresh from our stand at Decorex, we’re bursting to share more about our experience! So without further ado, here are our highlights from what we’ll forever look fondly upon as the first time we took our handmade tasselled lampshades to Europe’s leading interiors exhibition…

1.Seeing our favourite brands IRL

We’ve come away from the show with so many new brand crushes (and SO many new ideas we want to bring into our home immediately!). Here’s a selection of our faves…

2. Meeting our interiors idols

There’s an old saying that you should never meet your heroes in real life, but having met two of our interiors idols at Decorex, we’d have to disagree. It was an honour to meet the mighty Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, who we have admired for years and spent many hours watching on Changing Rooms in the 90s! And the lovely Siobhan Murphy of Interior Curve was a true delight to chat with as we caught up about the lampshades we made for her photoshoot for her new Palm Springs inspired fabric and wallpaper collection.

Our adorable insta pals, Molly Coath and Ry Elliott (you might recognise them from BBC Interior Design Masters) also stopped by for a catch up and to show their support. Aren’t we the lucky ones!

As well as meeting these absolute legends of interior design, we also had the pleasure of mingling with many, many other talented designers and retailers. It was super exciting to chat about potential opportunities to use our shades in their projects and in their stores – we hope we’ll be able to share more exciting news on this in the not-too-distant future!

3. Making people smile

Pardon the pun, but people’s faces genuinely lit up when they saw our stand! It was amazing to see after we’d spent so long planning, designing and building it. Of course, everyone who visited us wanted to swish our shades, and we were only too happy to oblige!

4. Showcasing our handmade lampshades

As a predominantly online business, we don’t get to see people’s first reactions to our lampshades as often as we’d like. So it was a real joy to spend four whole days meeting people and showing them our brand new Lolana, Chloé and Clara shades.

There was much love for our collaboration with marbling artist Rachel Maiden, and we can’t wait to get the stunning marbled-velvet lampshades live on our website. Our upcycled Staffordshire dog lamps got a LOT of attention too! (It’s safe to say the pups are very much the Marmite of our product range, but those who appreciate Grandmillennial style absolutely adore them!). Both of these collections will be available to buy on our website very soon, so stay tuned to our Instagram if you want to know when you can get your hands on them.

5. Surprise successes

Last but not least, we must give a shout-out to the upcycled Victorian screen divider we had on our stand – it created quite the buzz!

So much so that we’ve been inspired to create a capsule collection to add to our product range. Watch this space…

We’re already looking forward to Decorex 2024. Hope to see you there!
